Harvard University is not only home to some of the world’s most distinguished students and teachers, but additionally some of the world’s finest museums and galleries. Covering a broad range of topics – art, science, history, archaeology, ethnology and geology – the museums of Harvard are a culmination of years of research and acquisition. Many of the Harvard museums contain items and artifacts that are unique to their exhibitions. Throughout the museums you will see things you can’t see anywhere else – a 1,600 pound amethyst geode, art by Georgia O’Keeffe and John Singer Sargent, time pieces from the 17th century, and much more.
There are three Art Museums: the Fogg Museum, Arthur M. Sackler Museum, and Busch-Reisinger Museum. In addition you will find the Museum of Natural History, the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard Semitic Museum, and the Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments. Each of these Harvard museums and galleries is open to the public year-round and provides an excellent resource for those interested in academic exploration or personal enjoyment.
