There are a number of private schools available to residents of Cambridge and area towns beginning in pre-Kindergarten and continuing through high school.  Each one is unique in its mission and style for providing its students with an exceptional education.

Both the Henry Buckner School and Spring Hill Montessori School offer young childhood education; Henry Buckner has classes for pre-K through 1st grade in addition to an after-school program, and Spring Hill has classes for children ages 2-5.

For children grades pre-K through 8th, Shady Hill School offers a diverse students body of 500 children and is situated on over 11 acres of land. In addition, Fayerweather Street School is committed to honoring each child’s thinking while valuing the role family and community play in education.  The Quaker Cambridge Friends School is another private institution offering classes in pre-K through 8th grades.  Beginning in pre-K and ending in 9th grade, Cambridge Montessori offers a family-oriented atmosphere and strives to focus on a child’s individual talents and potentials.

The International School of Boston and Buckingham Browne and Nichols School both offer education from pre-school through high school.  The International School has multiple locations around the world and honors both American and French education traditions. BB&N has almost 1,000 students in all its grade-levels.  The upper school is well known for its rigorous college prep curriculum.
